RADIAIR

Design problems aren't always fully resolved by creating an additional product. Often taking a step back to look at the source of the problem opens the designer to far more innovative solutions. When discussing instrument cables with a group of guitarists back in 2012, many expressed interest in a cable that didn't break due to fatigue, didn't unplug when stood on and didn't get in the way of moving around whilst playing.

In the early stages of this project it quickly became apparent that these problems were inherent in cables, so we needed to take a step back - Why do we need cables?

As it turns out, we don't. Wireless guitar adapters have existed for some time but strangely enough are connected to the guitar by, you guessed it, a cable! RADIAIR was to be designed as an instrument built around integrated wireless technology.

Everything from ergonomics to form reflected the minimalist design objective, only retaining features that are necessary to the functionality and semantics of a guitar.
