About
Hi,
I’m Milan.
I’m a designer and artist with a passion for historical crafts. With museum-quality garments from the bronze age through to the twentieth century, my work aims to explore the stories of past people and cultures through the clothes they once wore. Each piece I create is guided by careful research, archaeological sources, and a dedication to understanding period techniques.
Although my focus is historical dress, I also apply my background in design and art direction to create contemporary garments. I blend modern design principles with historical elements to create bold garments with subtle echoes of the past.
My Philosophy
I believe that how things are made matters. Objects carry the imprint of the hands that shaped them — a history of people and places. To truly bring the past to life, I work with historical techniques, traditional tools and processes, so that the past isn’t just represented – it’s revived.
I think it’s important that we offer alternate ways to experience history - to show people that it isn’t limited to books and museums. History is woven into every object you touch, every conversation you have. I want people to see the past not as abstract or far away, but as part of us, something tangible and something human.
I also believe in the power of the creative process to deepen our connection to the world. In a time when production is often distant and anonymous, I invite people to reconnect with the creative process — to understand that making is more than technique; it’s a dialogue between makers, past and present. I hope my work encourages people to see objects differently — to consider the people, the environment, and the stories behind the things we use every day.
Although my focus is historical dress, I also enjoy applying my background in design and art direction to create contemporary garments. This work draws on both modern design principles and historical elements to create unique modern garments, routed in our past.
