BUTTON cloak
LATE MEDIEVAL EUROPE
1330 - 1400 CE
The shoulder-buttoned cloak is a late 14th Century style cloak, minimally tailored to the neck and closed with a row of buttons on the right shoulder. This recreation is of a semicircular cut like that of the Bocksten Man’s. It is constructed in a heavy 2/2 twill, with buttons of the same fabric. The neck is cut asymmetrically for a tailored fit, and a linen reinforcement ensures it retains its shape.
