LIRIPIPE HOOD
HERJOLFSNÆS
1300 - 1370 CE
Following the 14th Century European fashion, this liripipe hood is a recreation of Nørlund 78, D10606, a remarkably well preserved garment excavated at Herjolfsnæs in Greenland. Faithful to the extant garment, this hood is made in a 2/2 twill of light grey warp and white weft. Two inserted shoulder gussets give the garment its form. Seams are finished with spun woollen filler threads and two rows of stab-stitching to create a robust and decorative hem.
