A historical reproduction of an 18th century cocked hat or tricorn in brown wool felt

Cocked Hat

EARLY MODERN PERIOD
1680 - 1800 CE

This reproduction cocked hat reflects an 18th-century style commonly associated with maritime contexts. The body is constructed from felted wool and cocked and secured on three sides, creating the distinctive three-cornered silhouette that has led to its modern colloquial name - tricorn. This interpretation is lined with a simple cotton lining, whip-stitched to the interior of the hat, and gathered together at the crown with a drawstring.
