A hand sewn historical reproduction of 14th century leather ankle boots of the medieval era

Ankle Boots

LATE MEDIEVAL EUROPE
1300 - 1400 CE

Side-laced ankle boots, based upon Goubitz's Type 50 classification. The form is heavily inspired by Dordrecht find DDT 205, with a single piece sole and medial lace holes, reenforced with an additional leather strip. The shoe's upper is pieced with a trapezoid insert to fit the form of the ankle, and constructed in the traditional turnshoe method.
