LIRIPIPE HOOD
HERJOLFSNÆS
1350 - 1450 CE
Following the Late Medieval European fashion, this liripipe hood is a recreation of Nørlund 70, D10600, a remarkably well preserved garment excavated at Herjolfsnes in Greenland. As per the extant garment, this hood is made in a dark brown 2/2 twill. A single gusset at the chest allows the cape of the garment to span the shoulders. This particular hood features an extremely narrow tubular liripipe, neatly affixed to the crown. Seams are finished with spun woollen filler threads and two rows of stab-stitching to create a robust and decorative hem.
