A hand sewn historical reproduction of 17th to 18th Century men's blue knee breeches

Knee Breeches

EARLY MODERN EUROPE
1680 - 1720 CE

Made from wool broadcloth and lined in linen, this reconstruction is based on a typical cut of breeches around the beginning of the 18th century. They feature a fitted waist, and a looser straight-legged silhouette than the lower and more closely fitted breeches of later decades. The fullness of the leg is finely gathered into the waistband, which fastens at the front with a fly plaquet of pewter buttons. Two slash pockets at the side seams are sewn in chamois leather. The breeches are secured below the knee with drawstrings, in this period, often with stockings worn over the knee band.
