Long tabard
MEDIEVAL EUROPE
1250 - 1400 CE
This reproduction tabard is based on the simple outer garment worn by the ploughman depicted in the Luttrell Psalter, circa 1320-1340 CE. It is made from an undyed felted wool twill and finished with tablet woven hems. The tabard is a practical garment, oversized and with winged sleeves allowing for ease of movement during manual labour. Worn over a tunic, it can be belted at the waist and secured at the neck with two overlapping lappets.
